Song with slightly different notes on two measures only

• Sep 6, 2022 - 17:06

I am scoring a song that has a slightly different melody on only 2 measures of verse 2. I would like to show this without making an overly long score. It seemed like adding a second voice and putting parentheses around it would work, but I am running into difficultly adding the verse 2 lyrics. They keep tying back to voice 1, even though I click on a voice 2 note and then CMD-L. It is in measures 4 and 5 of the attached. Voice 2 is shown an octave higher than it would be sung, as I have not yet figured out how note this or to add the parentheses.

Is there a better approach to this? [Apologies if this is easily found. I use MuseScore rarely and forget much in between each use.] Thank you!

An easy fix here would be to include the first two measures of the 2nd time through in the 1st ending, and move the start repeat two measures later.
