Can someone explain specifically why MuseScore 4.x won't work on iMac OS 10.13?
I like my old iMac. It's got CS6 Photoshop a bunch of old school programs that work just fine and GarageBand.
I don't need anything fancy.
I can't see Musescore 4 being so graphic or labor intensive that it needs a top end operating system.
What is the exact reason why 10.13 is not being supported?
Not to sound like a snoot, but I have many other iMacs, but I really prefer my old one for composing and notating my music.

The library that MuseScore uses to create its interface, Qt, is no longer supporting MacOS 10.13 as of version 6. If you want the full developer's discussion on this issue from back when it was new, check out https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/issues/8858.
The Qt version that is used by MuseScore is not supporting that old version of macOS
