Add break in playback at end of movement
How do I go about adding a little separation between movements during playback?
I'm currently using a measure with hiden rests and ending barline, but that leaves a strange-looking gap in the score.
Is there a better way to do this?

I'm not entirely sure what you're trying to achieve.
A small separation (breath mark) can be inserted after each note (Palette / Breaths & Pauses). The length of the pause can be set in the inspector.

Movements are normally separated by adding a Section Break to the final bars of each movement. This automatically addes a short pause between movements (the length is adjustable in the inspector) and also resets measure numbers and suppresses a courtesy time or key signature if there is a change between movements - see https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/breaks-and-spacers#section-break
