cannot export as midi file
Hi I have downloaded a free version of Musescore 3.6 and played with it.
It has perfect transcription from my pdf file (import pdf) and the score plays very nicely.
However, I can export/save as xml file.
I have problem export to midi file. Is it because it is not supported in FREE version?
It is only piano. and no other instruments.
What is the problem?

The FREE version is full featured. There is no PAID version of Musescore 3.6.

Do you see those available export formats listed in the drop-down list?
Choose what to export.
Choose MIDI, or MusicXML, or PDF, etc. from the list. Then click export.

Yes I found out from the error message "cannot determine file type" to figure out why after many trials.
Here are the story/steps
I import from a pdf file into musescore, when I export it immediately as midi file, I cannot go on. Then I save it as a xml file.
I then try open out the xml file(which I saved above), and this time I can save as midi file without problem.
It is very strange that I can do everything like playback, editing, etc, but the system still think it is a pdf file, not a score or not the musescore file type?
Within Musescore it knows the tempo is 108, but when I export/import to another piano practice software, it cannot recognise it and keeps kicking me out saying tempo not set up properly. Is there a way I can check and make sure of the tempo between 30-240 bmp?

May sure you give the full filename including the extension when exporting. Usually this is filled in automatically, but sometimes it is not, and of course, you might also have accidentally deleted. If you want to export a MIDI file, make sure the you both select MIDI as the file type and give a file name ending in ".mid" or ".midi".
Not quite sure what you saying about tempo, but be sure the tempo marking you isnert in your score reflects the tempo you want. The temporary MuseScore-only override in the play panel is fine for practicing with, but the only tempo that will be understood outside of MuseScore is one actually added to your score.
If you continue to have trouble, please attach your score and give precise steps to reproduce the problem.
