No sound

I just installed musescore 3 for windows 10 and the start/stop, rewind, toggle midi input, view->synthesizer and mixer, (and some more sound buttons) are all unpressable. I've tried the suggestions in FAQ related to not being able to play sound but to no result. The SoundFonts folder is all empty and I suppose that's a problem, though I can't add any sound fonts for it asks me to open the synthesizer. Help.

Please be sure to read each of the suggestions very carefully when following them, including #9 where it lists very specific information to report here if none of the other suggestions help.
