Score Formatting

• Nov 3, 2022 - 17:16

I'm still working on this score, getting nowhere. Now it wants to look like a condensed study score. Some conductors don't like this. I need to have all staves present on every page even when or if most of them are empty. I have my page settings a t 8 1/2 X 11 inches. How to fix? Please. i am looking at it on continuous view.

  1. Don't use continuous view for formatting. Most formatting is ignored in continuous view, especially page formatting as there aren't any pages - well just one very wide page. Use Page view instead.
  2. To have all staves present even when empty go to Format>Style>Score and untick Hide empty staves within systems.
  3. To get all those staves to fit on a page go to Format>Page Settings and reduce the staff space scaling. 1.1 mm seems to get everything to fit, but you may need to tinker a bit more.
  4. You can make things look neater - all pages reaching to the top and bottom margins - if you go to Format>Page and select "Enable vertical justification of staves" but some people prefer the "ragged" bottom.

I also noticed (in Format>Page settings) that your bottom margin is 20mm. If you reduce the size of the margin you will be able to use a larger staff space scaling and hence have everything slightly larger while fitting it all on the page.
