Instrument sounds change when I copy/paste from computer to laptop.

Hi all,
I have been adding theremin to some downloaded midi files such as carols.
I play them on my pc and all is fine, but when I transfer them to my laptop ( set up with MuseScore and all the same soundfonts), all the instrument sounds change to theremin and I have to reset them in Mixer.
Once saved, they all play correctly.
Anyone tell me what is causing this and how I can prevent it?
Many thanks
p.s. Once I get this sorted if anyone wants midis with theremin and finger positions for the carols I have done, I'll upload them

I wonder if this has anything to do with theremin not being in the instrument list. I suspect you have to do some kind if Change Instrument in the original score. Maybe that doesn't quite hold over in the change to another computer.

Ah yes I forgot. Old guy, you know. But I do have something odd happen. Like you, I'll have a score setup on one computer that has a few fonts added. Namely one for horn and on for trumpet. I have another computer with the same fonts in the same order. I open the score from computer one in computer two. The trumpet and horn staves do not use the added fonts. The trumpet staff uses the default trumpet sound and the horn uses piano. So I have to change them. A bit different from your problem but similar.

Finally resolved my issue by clearing out the soundfonts in MuseScore and Virtual midi synth, finding a soundfont I liked (Timbres of Heaven), installing that and a Theremin sound font to MuseScore and virtual midi synth on both pc and laptop in identical order. Redid the sounds on all my midis and successfully transferred them from pc to laptop :-)
