How to select a single line within a single staff?

I want to color a single line of a staff, not the notehead. I don't know how to just select one line, and therefore can't change the color. I know how to go to staff properties and change the color of the whole staff, just not one line within. How does one do this?

Not.

You could however add a plain staff text line, remove it's text and position it over the staffline you wish to colorize.

I was just playing with jeetee's suggestion. There should be a plain line already available in the Lines pallet - maybe requiring the Advanced workspace to be enabled to see it, but if not, jeetee describes how to get make one yourself. Having positioned the line on the stave you would also need to play with the Stacking order in the Inspector to position the line in front of the staff lines but behind the notes and rests. A value of 1500 seemed to work, but you may need to tweak that if the coloured line appears in front of something you would rather it was behind.

Another tip is that holding CTRL while moving the line with the up and down arrows will shift it by one staff line for each press of the arrow key.

Individually customised staff lines is rather an unusual requirement and so it is very unlikely that it would ever be adopted as an inbuilt function and workarounds (fudges?) such as this are going to be the only way to achieve that.
