Text such as "distort" and "overdrive" appears to break ties on Electric Guitar in MS4

I decided to post on the forum to see if anyone else has this issue before putting it in the issue tracker.
Steps to recreate:
1. Create new score with electric guitar
2. Create any melody using ties
3. From the Text Palette, select either "distort," "overdrive," or "jazz tone."
Ties appear to be ignored on playback. You could try not using ties within measures, but this would of course make your score messy. It also does not solve the problem of notes crossing barlines.
