Musescore 4 Highlighting an instrument before playback solos that instrument.
Description: When I click a measure to start playback from that area, it solos that instrument, meaning I have to click again to deselect that measure to playback with the whole thing.

This is by (debatable) design.
If a range is selected, MS4 will limit playback to the selected staves.
Pressing Esc once to clear the range selection will work out as well.
I'm hoping they'd require at least more than 1 measure for single-staff selection or make this a separate playback command.

And it is a great design. Other major software works this way. Vastly superior to having to open the mixer and find the instrument to solo it. If i need to start playback of the whole piece, I just select a note. This has always been the case.

For me though, I've use a bunch of software where "Space" plays all and "Alt+Space" plays selected tracks only (with Shift+space limiting the duration to the selection).
It's just imho notably harder to select a starting point (aiming takes time, so does pressing Esc additionally to clear the range) than it is to select a single measure (just aim somewhere inside it).
And for me, playing all after setting a start position by aiming at a measure is by far the more common scenario.

Wholly agree. I want choosing where to playback from to be the fastest thing, and there is far more empty space to click on in a measure than there are elements to click on. Besides, it's literally true: I thinking about playing the song from that measure, not playing from "the C# in the violin part at measure 28." Having to click on an element is more precise and therefore more time consuming. My solution has also been to hit Escape after selecting a measure, which clears the part selection, but retains the playback position (but frustratingly, removes all visual indicators of where playback will start from).
