When I choose any instrument in the score and then press play, it now plays that instrument solo
I want to be able to start playback from any part of the score, and I want to be able to hear all of the instruments. But as for now, I need to either choose the top part or select all parts in order to hear everything.

Select the note rather than the bar.
I think it's supposed to do that. If you select a measure in a part it will solo the part, but if you select just a note or rest in a measure it should play all the parts starting from there.
If the blue rectangle around the measure shows up, press Esc once to clear it away. The starting position will be maintained, but playback will no longer solo everything outside the rectangle (since there no longer is a rectangle).
