When I try to delete a bunch of extra measures at the end of the score, the program quits. When I reopen MuseScore, it asks if I want to restore my previous session (which was interrupted by the unexpected quit). The measures I tried to delete are not deleted.
This happened several times, but then it started allowing me to delete measures again.

OS: macOS 12.6, Arch.: x86_64, MuseScore version (64-bit): 4.0.0-223472200, revision: 5485621
Have the same problem. It especially occurs when I work with (occasionally faulty) files imported from MusicXML :)
A workaround is the following:
0. Delete the content of the Bars first and try again
1. Select the last bar before the ones to delete
2. add a custom Time Signature to pull all measures to be deleted into the selected one
3. RClick Measure -> Measure Properties -> decrease the Measure Length to match one single regular measure
4. change the time signature back to regular (or delete it)
