corrupted file

• Dec 27, 2022 - 20:18

When I open the file there is an announcement that it is corrupted. I "ignore" that, and inputting and playing te file works fine. What would be wrong if the file is corrupted? If there is corruption, it may be trying to make a separate file of the music alone; I can't get that to work.

The file seems to open in MS 4.0 without reporting any specific corruptions.
I attach the score exported as compressed MusicXML (*.mxl), which can be opened in MS3 or MS4 without any error message.

Regarding the "Fantasy #1.mscz" file attachment...
Measure 25 of the violincello has all notes entered in voice 2, which is unnecessary. That is what caused the corruption report - the measure actually lacks a measure rest in voice 1. Fortunately it does not affect playback.

To fix, open the score in MS4, select measure 25 of the 5th staff (violincello), then use Tools > Voices > Exchange Voice 1-2. Save the fix in MS4 and the corruption announcement will vanish.

BTW: The "Fantasy #1 export.xml" score attached above shows the same unnecessary voice 2 notes in measure 25, but at least there is a measure rest (invisible) placed in voice 1 - so no "corruption" is reported by MuseScore.
