Using Number pad keys on a computer keyboard for time value input
Hello,
I've just downloaded and started using Musescore 4.0. I'm used to using the keyboard shortcuts for note entry. I couldn't get Musescore 4.0 to recognize numberals I tried to enter using the 9-key number keyboard (instead of the numbers at the top of the QWERTY keys). Is there some preference I need to select? Has anybody else encountered this? Please redirect me if I should post this question to another forum.
Thanks in advance!

Thanks for your comment, Jojo. I wonder if there's a solution. Also, I don't really know how to check the forums for the answers I need before posting a comment. I'd appreciate knowing that.

Best way to search the forum: in Google type: "site:musescore.org your-topic". The local search engine (the magnifying glass) is weak.
Workaround: download this file - https://musescore.org/sites/musescore.org/files/2022-12/musescore_short… - then go to Edit / Preferences / Shortcuts, click Import, and select the file you downloaded.

Marc: Am I reading it wrong? The file doesn't download; it opens in a new tab. The first few lines in the new tab look like this:
This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below.

I copied the file name into the input box when it opened after following the E/P/S/I instructions.

Thank you Marc, 5eNzzz, and Jojo.
I tried to follow Jojo's hint about downloading the file by right-clicking and Mark's hint about importing it into preferences, but the file I downloaded is an XML file and Musescore seems to be looking for a musescore style file with the suffix .mss. Any ideas?

Then you're at the wrong import dialog, the one for style rather the one for shortscuts

Yes. Don't open (or "import") the XML file in MuseScore. Instead, do what Marc proposes and just save it in a good place on your computer, and then make MuseScore know where to find it (in the settings, as Marc describes).
