Ability to modify the instrument, for the score execution only.
In the MUSESCORE3 version it was possible to modify the instrument, for the execution of the score only.
In the MUSESCORE4 version this does not seem possible, at least I do not found something about it.
This is a shame, because this possibility was very useful for a more fine listening of the score or to make working videos bringing out instruments or voices.
You mean having an invisible staff for playback?
It isn't clear what you mean, but it sounds like maybe you are having trouble finding the Mixer? See the button on the toolbar, or the View menu, or the shortcut F10.
If you are talking about something else, please explain in more detail

In Musescore3, it is possible to select (in the mixer) which actual instrument will be playing each part.
For example, I can create a SATB score for our choir, with staves named Soprano, Alto etc. - but I want them all played by piano for study purposes (human voice samples usually have too long attack and are not suitable for short notes sung fast) .
That means, I can use the piano sound sample for playback only, simply switch there and back without changing the staff names. In the new Musescore 4 mixer, I can only select sound fonts but cannot make a simple mapping of instruments. I believe this is what José meant.
That is possible, and if so, it's a known limitation that is being worked on.
But note, you can select different sounds for playback, using either Muse Sounds or VST. Or by choosing a different SoundFont, like one containing only piano. It's only different sounds within a single SoundFont that you can't select currently.
