Is this a problem with MuseScore4 or with my laptop or is it just bad luck?
It is taking MuseScore4 about 40 seconds to open the ‘Style’ dialog-box. I do not think this is the way MuseScore4 was designed to work. Any ideas?
-------Notes------
-I have a Dell laptop (SSD) from 2019 with Windows 10.
-In Musescore4, I can open other dialog-boxes without problems.
-I still have MuseScore3 on my laptop.
-When Musescore4 is already open and I attempt to open 3, the 4 is forced to close.
-When Musescore3 is already open and I attempt to open 4, they are both open without problems.
-Both MuseScore 3 and 4 appear in “Installed Programs”.

I tried to attach an MP4 to illustrate the problem but clearly such files are not allowed to be attached.
It is the way that MS4 works. I've reported this for weeks (and I'm not alone).
On Win10 6yr old laptop with MS3, it's instantaneous
On Win11 new i7 Gen 12 laptop with MS4, it takes upwards of 20 seconds. I think it's slower on 4.0.1 than 4.0.0
Opening the dialog on a subsequent occasion in a session does not speed loading.

I can use Mu3 and Mu4 in parallel
Edit: seems I spoke to early...
With Mu4 running I can't start Mu3
And even after stopping Mu4 I can't start Mu3
Only after a reboot...
But not always

Using them in parallel is not the issue. It's the ridiculously slow load of the MS4 Style dialog on very fast machines.

FWIW. My old laptop. Three large scores running in MS4. Am able to start and load a large score in MS3. loading of Style window in MS4 i or 2 seconds. I can't say what the difference is.
