Condition
Do note input using MS Basic sounds, with 'Play notes when editing' on.

There is a lag of about 1/4 sec between playing the key on the MIDI keyboard and hearing the playback of the note from MuseScore. This is quite tiring after a while.

Workaround
The workaround: (1) Set 'Play notes when editing' to off.
(2) Turn on the speaker connected to my keyboard. —This happens to be a stage piano so I can get its internal piano sound no problems.

This works just fine. I don't have to hear the eventual instrument sound to input music. I can hear it all on playback, during which the sound is perfectly synchronised with the cursor.
