Vector Files of Leland Engraving Notes

• Feb 1, 2023 - 19:04

Where can I find vector files such as svg files for some sample Leland notes? I'm looking to make my own cluster notation in Illustrator, and I'd love to have the Musescore Leland notes to base them on. Attached are some of the types of note clusters I had in mind. I've been able to import my rough svg files into Musescore and use them fine, but I'd like to improve the quality of the engraving, and hopefully stay relatively consistent with Leland for the shapes and styles of the notes.

You could just input the symbols as text in Illustrator (using the Glyph palette) - Leland is a font like any other. Then you can convert them to vectors (Type > Create outlines, if I remember right) and modify from there.

Or, if it's quicker to arrange some things in MuseScore first, generate a PDF from there with what you need and open it in Illustrator.

Or, open Leland.otf in a font editor (FontForge, FontLab, etc) and modify/create new symbols directly.
