Make many tempo indications invisible at once

How can I make a whole bunch of tempo indications invisible? I can select them all, but clicking or trying to edit them, selects just one. I cannot seem to make them all disappear. I know I could erase them, but I am just wondering if it is possible to still have the tempo changes but not have them overtake the score visually.
