Guitar pitchbend does not have any playback

I have been trying to make a surf-rock esque sound, and when I use the guitar pitchbend (the curved-upwards arrow that defaults to have the word "full" above it), it does not change the pitch, and in the properties tab, the "Playback" button is greyed out. Is this a bug, or have pitchbends not been integrated yet?
