how to change eighth note to look like a quarter note

I want an eighth note to look exactly like a quarter note, I can change head but not stem and if I make the flag invisible the stem is too long

I strongly second the "why" above!
If I had a quarter note printed in a score that was really a eighth I would flag it as a misprint in the score.
This does nothing but add confusion - write to inform, not to impress.

I'll third the "why". Not that there can never be a case where one might find some highly unusual special reason to need to do this., but probably the vast majority of cases where you might initially think this makes sense, there's actually a much more straightforward way to accomplish whatever it is you want to accomplish. Best to attach your score and explain the actual end result you are trying to accomplish so we can understand and assist better.

That said, making the flag invisible should work, and the stem length should be the same either way in most cases. Unless maybe it's some special case involving cross staff notation or multiple voices with stems pointing outside the staff etc. In which case, you might need to apply an adjustment (either via the handle or the Properties panel).

But again, almost certainly, there is a better way to do whatever it is you are trying to do.
