Help, MuseScore 4 file will not open

• Feb 20, 2023 - 20:25

I am running Muscore 4, the very latest version and I believe my PC installed some auto-updates overnight because when I got to my computer the other day, all had closed. But no problem I thought because I recall having saved the file. However it will not open. Its just a few pages of George Harrison Saxophone Licks I NEED for his 80th Bday concert. Can anyone fix this? See attached.

I save my files on dropbox, and so I can see the save history... I saved it a good 10 times or so when I last worked on the file on Feb 15, and NONE of those versions will open. I can open the file from back in January. And so, this can't have anything to do with the computer reboot. There is definitely a problem in that if MuseScore allows us to SAVE a file without error, it needs to be able to OPEN that same file without error.

Look at the date on your saved file. Does it say the date you last saved it, or the date you first saved it with that name. And were they Save or Save As? Could explain some things.

Some people here have software that can look at your file and maybe see what is going on.

This problem has been resolved thanks to the help of a friend in another thread, link contained here in another comment. These were my comments about my experience:

I do believe this is a bug and hope the team looks into it: If a file SAVES with no errors, it always must OPEN with no errors. Detecting a problem when we open a file and not having a recovery path isn't acceptable to anyone, no matter what software we are using.
