MuseScore 4.01: Tablature fret number entry

• Feb 21, 2023 - 17:11

In MS4.01, when I click a tablature line MuseScore enters 0 ... as it did in MS3.x. But now in MS4 there's also a small vertical line to the left, and that creates the strong illusion that the 0 is a 10. And this illusion persists as long as the fret number is selected.

See the 4th beat of the measure in the attached image.

I think that's just a marker. Like the one to the left of the next note input in regular staff note input. Notice it goes away when you move on to the next note.

My point exactly. That "marker" (a small vertical line) is a disconcerting and unwanted part of the TAB visual guidance system. It's entirely unnecessary, and not part of MS3's behavior.

Perhaps I should mention that I'm on MacOS 13.1, and I'll add that omission to the opening post.

In Note Input mode I don't see anything but the "note cursor" in the standard clef.

The only place I see the input artifact in where I reported, in tablature input in MS4, post click when the tablature note is selected.

I appreciate your understanding.

I just report what I observe as I go along. Particularly what aspects askew from intent or proper function ... and matters that may be poor design. Not trying to triage.

Thanks for the feedback that you see the markers on Window. As stated, I've never seen the "marker" except in MS4 tablature.
