Muse Sounds Filled With Static, Skips Notes

• Mar 9, 2023 - 10:41

I've been using Muse Sounds for about 2 months now, and I will first start by complimenting the quality of the instruments at hand. On the contrary however, it's filled with static and often skips notes, making tuplets an absolute pain to work with.

I've upped my Buffer Rate to the maximum within my I/O Settings, as per the advice of many commenters throught MuseScore's forums (musescore.org/en/node/339915). I would say about 70% of my static disappeared at that very moment and is an effective compromise for now, at the cost of the static intensifying three-fold if it does ever hit.

Keeping the mixer open or closed changes nothing, and turning my master volume down even a notch actually reduces my playback quality.

If there are any other tips I'm unaware of, do let me know.

Did you try the other settings in that "How To"? Like lowering the bit rate and un-checking "Exclusive Mode".
What I've had to do is use some kind of Audio adapter or interface, also.

I have the same exact issue, I've tried many different things in order to fix it but this bug seems tough as nails. It also shows up in the sound files I export from the score and the static crackles are inconsistent throughout several pieces. Sometimes every E-flat has a pop sometimes only a low D. The sounds are great but this really is annoying to work with.

Everyone who has been experiencing choppy / stuttering / laggy sound in MuseScore 4, please see Playback issues on audio devices set to high sample rates. The usual recommended fix is to set your audio device sample rate to 44.1 kHz. Whether that works or not for you, please respond in that thread and provide the requested info, to help us diagnose what might be happening. We'd very much like to figure out why this happens on some systems, so we need help from the people who experience this issue!
