Problems Adding 2nd Voice
I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but when I try to add a 2nd voice to my music, it will automatically change the entered notes for voice 1 into voice 2 notes, and then give me rests for voice 1. I am following the instructions to add 2nd voice, by entering voice 1 notes first, then selecting the first note in the measure, and selecting voice 2, or pressing Ctrl Alt 2.
Can anyone help me?

Make sure you are in note entry mode before selecting the voice you want to enter.
See https://musescore.org/en/handbook/4/working-multiple-voices#entering-no… and pay particular attention to the order of doing things.

I am having the same problem. I am in note entry mode. I entered the voice 1 dotted quarter. Then I wanted the alto moving underneath it, so I clicked voice 2, and it changed all my voice 1 notes to voice 2. How can I make it leave my v. 1 alone and let me enter v. 2?

Enable note entry before selecting the voice.
When in note entry mode selecting a voice instructs musescore to enter the following notation in that voice. When not in note entry entry the voice buttons move the selected note to the relevant voice.

I was entering notes for v.1, so I thought I was already be in note entry mode. However, when I went back in, v.2 started working right. Maybe I had bumped something and accidentally gone out of note entry mode. I am not good at any technology. I would delete my question, but I cannot figure out how to do that. Anyway, thank you for taking time to answer me! :)
