Setting score to concert pitch

• Jun 15, 2023 - 03:31

Hi, when writing a sax soli I noticed after setting the score to concert pitch the tenor sax is an octave lower than the alto sax notes, even though they are both set to concert pitch. Is there a way to make every instrument when set to concert pitch the same notation, not different concert pitch octaves for each instrument?

I'm not really understanding the question. Tenor sounds an octave lower than written - that's just how it the instrument works. If you are seeing the tenor notes written an octave lower than the alto, then presumably that's what you wrote. When writing transposed music, you need to write for tenor not just a step higher than you want to hear, but a step plus an octave higher.

If that's not making sense or seeming to apply to your situation, please attach your score and describe which notes you are having trouble with.
