Finale user would like help!
I'm a longtime Finale user, and fairly skilled in my own little corner of choral and barbershop scores. In fact, I teach classes in it. I have many new students asking about MuseScore, so I'm checking it out to see if it's a viable alternative. Consequently, I will have many questions about how to make MS act like what I'm used to in Finale. Please note, I will have no problem if you tell me to RTFM; just tell me where to look!
Is it possible to set my Tenor/Lead staff to piano playback, on separate channels, without having the text Tenor/Lead change to Piano on the score? I would like to use voice 1 for tenor on channel 1, and voice 2 for lead on channel 2. (The same for Bari and Bass, on channels 3 and 4.)
Is there a way to see my chosen duration (before I enter it) in the score, or do I have to look at the pallet?
Is it possible to turn off the "These are the durations you have left in this measure"?
Can I assign different colors to voice 1 and 2?
These should do for a start. There will be many more to follow, I'm sure.

Don't use voice 3 and 4 for Bari and Bass but 1 and 2!

I wasn’t clear! I would use voices one and two, but put them on channels 3 and 4. With each voice on its own channel, I would he able to create part-predominent files for learning tracks.

For learning voices in our choir I take an extra staff for each voice an then use the mixer for making single voices louder and lower before mp3-export. You can use explode for this purpose.

MuseScore 3.6.2 is particularly good for making choral rehearsal parts. Unfortunately MS4.0 removed the functionality of the helpful S/A and T/B channel assignments (on the Text palette). I hope this absence is only temporarily, until a future version of MS4.
In MS 3.6.2: for a closed SATB score I always use Voice 1 and Voice 2 for both treble and bass stave. In MS3 the automatic channel assignment for the invisible S/A text looks like this:

The four channels allow for a single voice part to split (S1 + S2), but not to play back separately (S1 only or S2 only).
You have to use Women and Men as the Instrument choice, otherwise the S/A and T/B text (from the Text palette) has no effect.
A sample practice file in MS3 format is attached, but note that it will only work in MS3 (not MS4). And that is why I continue to use MS 3.6.2 until MS4 restores this extremely useful technique. You can download MS 3.6.2 from Download > Older versions :

Sorry, but I don't ever see this message. Maybe someone else can advise?

Edit > Preferences > Advanced > engraving/colors/voice1 (2,3,4)
But these colours only show up when you select one or more notes! Or during note entry.
