How can I undo the rest I added to the bar?
This was an accident and now I don't know how to remove it. I've written much more after it and would have to rewrite it all to simply undo it with ctrl z.

The little plus sign indicates that the measure has been altered from its normal duration, most often by accidently using insert mode. Right click on the measure and choose measure properties, then reset the actual measure duration to 4/4.
Or select it and hit CTRL + Delete
