DIfferent volume level for preview and for play back?

I just got started with musescore, so please bare with me.

I noticed that (as an example), when I added a piatti symbol to the score and clicked on the note, the preview playback was quite loud. But when select the measure and play it through, the playback volume is about 1/10 as loud. The fader in the mixer is at 0.

Why is this and can it be corrected?

I think this is by design.

When clicking a note, I believe it plays at mf, but when playback occurs, it will play at the written dynamic.
