Tempi
How can I write down a single part of an entire score half as fast (so that eighth note becomes quarter note...), but then tempo twice as fast (ultimately the same tempo but spelled differently)? Or is there no function for this and I have to write the part again?

Copy, then Paste double duration, then change the tempo text to double the speed
You can copy the notes and then use the "paste double duration" function. But to do this, you need twice the number of measures when pasting.
Since an eighth note is only half as long as a quarter note, the playback speed is also halved. You can correct this by specifying a new tempo text with twice the value for this section.
There is no built-in function for doing this.

Well, there is: that said "paste double duration". At least that does the major part of the work
