A "How-To" question re: entering lyrics

• Aug 8, 2023 - 06:06

Good day all:

While transcribing lyrics from commercially printed sheet music into a script, I periodically run into a large closing meta bracket at the end of the verse section of a multi-verse lyric set and before the chorus starts. The closing meta bracket ends a section of multiple verse lines and begins a section of chorus where there is only one line of lyric.

Is this something that MuseScore can do and, if so, can you point me in the right direction.

Note: I know that I could end each verse line with a current font sized closing meta bracket, but I like the look of the single large bracket to fit the size of all of the multiple verse lines.

(Musing: If this feature is available what does the large bracket attach to - the last character of the last verse line? Hm-m-m-m. This could get messy for the programmers.)

Thank-you,
Cliff

Any update? While transcribing lyrics from commercially printed sheet music into a script, I periodically run into a large closing meta bracket at the end of the verse section of a multi-verse lyric set and before the chorus starts. And I don't know why, I am waiting for the reply and till then I will look at this web-site to find out about fake news. Because I got an essay assignment from my mentor on fake news.

"I am still hoping for an object that is attached to another element in the score, so that it moves & resizes logically with the lyrics."

I don't think that is going to happen any time soon, but in the meantime the suggestion from Jojo-Schmitz is worth following. This is an example using an arpeggio line instead of a bracket: Meta_brackets_for_lyrics.jpg

The arpeggio is attached to the first note of the chorus, with its Play property disabled. Obviously some vertical and horizontal offsets are applied to the arpeggio line. The positioning of the arpeggio line is reasonably robust even if the the number of measures in the system changes.
