What's the best practice note length when pedal used?

Hi. I'm new to music scoring so this might be a dumb question. I wrote a simple 4/4 score for piano. The sustain pedal is held down for the whole song. The staffs are filled with crotchets and quavers, but I'm wondering, in a song with sustain, if the distinction really matters, and if there's a best practice approach.

I find that I am changing quavers into longer notes (where possible) to eliminate an abundance of rests from peppering the score (although I know I can hide them). in this song it sounds the same either way.

Are there rules to selecting note length when a song will have constant sustain pedal?

I don't have an answer. But what is your goal here? The sustain pedal would normally be used to aid in phrasing. Real players tend to pedal the way they want, anyway.
