MS 4.1.1 not saving part info

• Sep 4, 2023 - 01:40

If you look at the attached lead sheet and generate the pno/guitar part, try to change any of the style settings - nothing saves. (I don't use the score, for what it's worth.)

The tenor and bass parts are fine for my purposes, but I just can't get the pno-gtr part to co-operate. The file was originally created on MS 3.6.2. Any ideas?

Can you give precise steps to reproduce the problem? I tried the following and it worked just fine:

  1. Parts
  2. Select pno/gtr
  3. Open
  4. Format / Style
  5. Increase staff line thickness

Worked as expected for me.

Thanks for trying, Marc. I just looked at it again and it's still not working. Here's what I did:

  • Opened the file
  • Opened the Pno/Gtr part
  • Ctrl A (select all)
  • Format > Add or remove system breaks (set to break every four measures)
  • Save and close
  • Open again and the change was not saved

If it's working for you then I'm guessing there's something going on with my system.

OK, that I can reproduce. That's not about the style settings at all - the part itself just isn't saving. When you reopen the file, the part should still be open, but it isn't. And trying to reopen just creates a new one,. Very strange; I've never seen anything like that before. I thought maybe it had to do with all the extra Gtr parts somehow confusing things, but removing them doesn't help.

Please report this to the developers by opening an issue on GitHub - https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/issues. Make it clear in the title and description that the issue isn
t about style at all - it's that the part itself isn't saved. You can use your same steps, but observe also in the last step that the part has to be reopened and that's really the issue right there.
