Unable to revert to v3
V4.1.1 does not play back so I tried to revert to v3. Scores opened in v4 can no longer be opened in v3. Is there a way of opening a score in v3 after opening it in v4?

Make a MuseXML file. However, this reduces the score to its simplest form. Which means you'll have to edit it afterwards. I would advise making copies of the scores that you want to upgrade to MuseScore 4

Thank you, beniegenie, that makes sense. I'll also create a pdf of the score from MuseScore 4 to aid me in editing the score in MuseScore 3.

In the meantime we might be able to help you with MU4.

The playback quality in v4 is appalling, with notes dropping out at random in MuseScore 4 and in exported mp3, so thanks for the offer but I can't wait for fixes as I have to send scores to my bandmates in the next day or so.

I've now seen and acted on your reply to my other issue, so thank you.

Using XML files is not the best way. For future reference, the Musescore 4 mscz file is a type of compressed file. If you open it with something such as 7-Zip, inside there will be a mscx file. That can be extracted and opened in Musescore 3.

That will loose all style settings, XML would retain many of them

That is good to know. I based my suggestion on the earlier post that said XML would simplify things. The scores I do are pretty simple, and before version 4 was updated to find corrupted measures, I had to revert a few to version 3. I didn't find any loss between the mscz and the embedded mscx.

That's strange, because when I've sent XML files to Sibelius users, beaming and stave breaks have all been lost.
