Adding notes to a staff
Hi there! I am a noob to the program and recently downloaded MuseScore for school projects. I am having trouble adding note to the staff. 
When I click the note I want to use, then go to the staff and click where the blue mark is, nothing happens. This happens wherever I click on the staff. Is there a trick to this? perhaps I am missing something simple. please let me know. Thank you!

It's not going to work because you are in the drum palette. You have to enter a shortcut first. In my opinion this is the worst way to learn to enter notes in notation software. Some will disagree. But I think you should go to the manual and learn note input from there.
