Save Current Style & Page Settings as Default?

How do I save my current style and page settings changes as default? I am having to readjust these every time I make a new score.

Create a score or use an existing one with the desired settings (instruments, text styles, etc.) and save it in the directory .../documents/MuseScoreX/Templates" under a suitable name (X is the major version of MuseScore). A single measure is sufficient, the key and time signature do not matter.
When creating the next score, select it from the custom templates.

"When creating the next score, select it from the custom templates."

Or if the OP really wants the very same setup showing a new blank score on startup, there is the optional setting:
Edit > Preferences > General > Program start > Start with score
Program_start_with_template_score.png

In my humble opinion, using this method has some disadvantages.

  • The number of measures is predefined. Yes, you can delete or add some.
  • The key signature is predefined. Yes, it can be changed.
  • The time signature is predefined. Yes, it can be changed.
  • This only works when you start the MuseScore program, but not when you use File -> New (in MuseScore 3, may be different in MuS 4)

This does not save any work in my opinion. I prefer to use a custom template.
