Working in Musescore 4 but .mscz files have been saved in Musescore 3 so I can't open them using Windows Explorer
Transcribe and Save a score in Musescore 4
Using Windows Explorer navigate to file
File is shown with blue Musescore 3 icon beside it, not purple Musescore 4
Double-click to open it
A message comes up saying "Load Error - ......This score was saved using a newer version of Musescore....." - which indeed it was
I can only open the files using File>Open in Musescore 4

Actually File>Open doesn't work, it has to be File> Open recent
Are you saving to the cloud?

No saving to my computer

Right-click file and choose open with ... MUsescore 4.

OK thanks. I've done that and ticked the box which says Always use this to open these files (not exact words) and I think that's done the trick so thank you.
Wonder why it did that in the first place though?
