Intermittent Unusual Behavior in Palettes

• Mar 18, 2024 - 05:09

I've searched the forum, but not found any other description of this behavior.

Sometimes, when I have a palette open in the palettes screen, but slid above the top of the palettes screen that open palette will display over the top of the space immediately above the palettes screen, over the top of the "Add palettes"; the Palettes, Instruments, and Properties tabs; the note buttons; and/or the Home, Score, and Publish tabs. I can often get it to display, but sometimes it simply does not happen. I have not figured out what action makes it display or not display. See the screenshot I have attached.

I can also usually get it to appear when I move that open palette from above the palettes screen into the palettes screen. When this is happening, it flashes on and off as the bottom of that open palette crosses into the palettes screen. I have not found a way to get a screenshot of this behavior.

I have not observed this having any effect--positive or negative. Clicking in that area clicks on the underlying item.

I've been seeing this for some time; I'm not sure how long. It happens in many different files so I don't think it's specific to a particular file

OS: Windows 10 Version 2009 or later, Arch.: x86_64, MuseScore version (64-bit): 4.2.1-240230937, revision: d757433

If I should report this, please tell me exactly where and how I should do so? The instructions on reporting issues (that I have found, at any rate) are not helpful.

Hey, if you do report this later, a suggestion would be in the meantime to try screen capturing an instance of the behavior leading into a manifestation of what you've described. Tends to help developers reproduce this kind of $#!% ;-)

Also, if it's of any help:
1) https://github.com/musescore/museScore/
2) Issues tab
3) New issue
Or directly: https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/issues/new/choose

Then follow the prompts. You'd of course need first a Github account.
