I can't change note color when I have invert score on

Using MS 4.1.2

I have prefs/appearance/invert score on.

I select a note, or notes, go to properties/appearance/color, select a color, click ok.

But notes don't change color.

I can see note color changes when invert is off. But I want invert on, as I want notes on a black background.
