Tiny bug on play panel

• Apr 8, 2024 - 04:26

I know you're working hard to fix bugs. This one is pretty innocuous, but I just found it, and you might like to know about it. At least it is reproducible. When I drag the play panel so it is free of the... uh... what's it called? The toolbar? I enclosed a screenshot for clarity. So that the tempo slider is over the score, the tempo slider works, but the score also senses the mouse click and drag and repositions the cursor over that spot in the score.

I've seen numerous situations—mainly with the Properties panel (Inspector in MS3) and some contextual menus—where the score errantly receives the keystrokes. But I don't recall seeing issues with sliders.

I checked in MuseScore 4.2.1 and did not encounter a slider-click or slider-drag a going to the score.
MacOS 13.5.2

Are you able to recreate the behavior from scratch, in a new score, after restarting MuseScore? If so, please report the exact steps to replicate.

Quit. Restart. New score. Enter some notes. Drag play panel off toolbar, over score, where some notes are. Adjust tempo slider.

Result: The same issue occurs, but inconsistently. I can't figure out how to reproduce it reliably. Sorry. Did the best I could.

Thanks for following up!

I had a hunch that would be the trigger. So I positioned the undocked Play Back panel to the tempo slider was over a note in the score. But try as I might can can't position the panel so a click to the Tempo slider drags a note or drags the score.

I did discover an annoying hesitation when dragging the panel slowly in any direction. The panel doesn't follow the mouse elegantly, but stays put until it eventually snaps to the mouse position. I suppose this also happens when dragging quickl but it's just hard to see. Does this happen in your version of MuseScore? BTW, what is the MuseScore version and your OS?

Those intermittent bugs are hard to isolate and replicate.
