drumkit notation style - one for the players

I have recently watched a YTube "drum coach" complaining about 'old fashioned' drum notation - the style I normally write in. He recommended a 'cleaner', more modern style. So my question to you drummers is: which do you prefer and at the end of the day, does it make 'that'much' difference?
I was left wondering if he was really talking to rock drummers...

Not a drummer and I know very little about drum notation, but may I suggest you also post the URL of the YouTube drum coach talking about notation. It'll give a bit more context to your question.
