Can't launch, replace or uninstall Muse Hub on my macBook

• Jun 24, 2024 - 06:41

I have Muse Hub on my macBook running Sonoma 14.5, however it will not open or run. I have tried to replace the file in my applications folder with a new download with no success. I also cannot remove the application to try reinstalling it. In both cases, I see a prompt appear saying 'The operation can't be completed because the item "Muse Hub" is in use." and it prevents my action. However, there is no indication in my task manager that the application is running so I can't force quit. I have restarted my Mac, I have checked for updates, I don't know what other options I have to try and fix Muse Hub. Any know issues or fixes you can suggest?

Edit: I also cannot open Musescore 4.3.2 now either. Even after attempting to reinstall it.

DanielR, thank you for the link. I was having the same issue - MuseHub would not close on my mac, no matter what I did (restart, etc.). I went through all the listed suggestions on the site you linked to and the one that worked for me was using the Activity Monitor option:

"Activity Monitor is a system monitor for the macOS operating system, and it offers similar functionality to Task Manager in Windows. You can open it by going to the Finder and navigating to Applications → Utilities → Activity Monitor.

Activity Monitor displays all running applications sorted by their CPU, memory, energy, disk, or network usage. You can double-click on any application to bring up a separate window with more information about it and the option to close it."

I selected Quit, then in the next screen I selected Force Quit. I then deleted the MuseHub while I was in Finder.

Thank you to this community. I use Musescore so much for my piano studio, and am thrilled to be "back in business" in Musescore.
