Changing Instrument on Imported score
Hi, I imported a classical guitar score from a pdf. The score looks good but the instrument is defaulting to voice. When changing instrument to classical guitar it formats the score to be played at one octave higher than shown. I can't see an octave higher sign on the score.
Can I format the score to be played as shown rather than one octave higher or alternatively default the instrument to classical guitar on the import

This is what I've seen with a test example. Although the original clef is the Treble Clef 8va bassa, the conversion results in the usual Treble clef. So, if this is the case, put back the Treble clef 8va bassa, then select all (Ctrl/Cmd + A) and type Ctrl/Cmd + down arrow (to change octave).

(NB: I only changed the Voice instrument for the Classical Guitar instrument. It's better for the sound...)

Thanks. So my example is treble clef to treble clef.
The notes look ok but some are marked in red as out of range for the instrument.
If I add an instrument of classical guitar (Tab) in addition to classical guitar, the tab settings are one octave too high.
If if follow the steps you outlined, the tabs are now correct if you ignore the Treble Clef 8va bassa and play it as a treble clef, but the treble clef is shown as 8va bassa which is incorrect.
Something similar can be seen in your example score. If I add an instrument of classical guitar (Tab) the tabs look correct in the first score but the treble clef is incorrect. In the second score, the treble clef is correct but the tabs are incorrect. I have attached an .mscz file for reference showing the first line of my score before edit and after edit.
Something I noted was that if you add classical guitar as an instrument it says (stave notation with 8va bassa treble clef). Whereas for classical guitar tab it Acoustic nylon stringed guitar (tablature). I've included screenshots for reference. At a guess I would say the classical guitar instrument is being loaded as 8va bassa Treble Clef, but the treble clef on the score is shown as a normal treble clef.

In this second score, for editing, I opted for the treble clef 8 va bassa followed by an octave change (select All then Ctrl + down arrow). And the result (display and playback) after adding a TAB staff (linked here) is just fine - see GIF below.
Isn't that what you want?

And for your score, if your wish is to preserve the Treble clef (is that your request?), replace the instrument with Guitar (Treble clef) in the “All instruments” section (not Common section ), see GIF below.
In MuseScore, this Guitar (Treble clef) is also a classical guitar, but with a different treble clef than the default (treble clef 8 va bassa, in "Common" section).
Next, the same procedure, octave change, etc. You'll notice that an unexpected glitch occurs at the end with the linked TAB. Simply cut the clef (it's harmless), and the TAB clef will appear.
And your score now: 1import edit.mscz
