opening a score

Totally new to musescore. I have *.mid, *.pdf, *.mp3, *.wav, & *.mscx files in my SCORE folder. When I go to FILE, then OPEN, it brings me to the SCORE folder but there is nothing there. The files are in that folder but when opening it in Musescore nothing is there? What am I doing wring? Thanks, Jon
