Help

I have been a Finale user for a number of years and am considering moving to MuseScore however I must tell you that my early experience has been less than satisfactory. I have used MuseScore 3 and it works fine. I have downloaded 4.4.2 and am not able to get the sound to work correctly. I have posted on the Forum and received no response. The sound is high pitched, and not the note that I enter. Playback is at least double the speed that it should be and distorted. I have tried changing buffer size for the output device as well as other fixes described in the Forum with no success. I really would like to use this product but without any response to help requests it may be worth going to Dorico.

  1. It seems that the problem is due to multi-channel surround sound, which is fixed for version 4.4.3. https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/issues/17648
You can try downloading Nightly build and check if the sound works fine there https://musescore.org/en/nightly-builds
  2. I have never worked with Dorico, but according to reviews, Dorico works much more stable and has less impact on the mental health of composers.
So paid Dorico can be cheaper than free Musescore.
