Extracting more than one part at a time

Hi
I have a string quartet and soprano score which I am trying to extract parts from - I originally extracted just individual instruments, but for ease of following I need to re do the parts with the vocal line above for each instrument. I am not sure how to do this. I have tried creating the new score and copying from the old but the copy and paste function seems to only sporadically work. TIA
