Changing tempo slider messes up repeat loops

• Nov 3, 2024 - 04:20

I've mentioned this before in previous posts, though my title was potentially misleading and I didn't have a clear idea of the issue. So, I am bringing it up again. I sing with a choir and mostly use MS to help me learn my part. Usually, it's a SATB score, often with piano accompaniment. So I am mostly playing back, not composing or arranging, and I am often using the loop feature. It's a great way to practice melismas, among other things. So, naturally, I am often using the tempo slider on the play panel. Start slow, increase the speed.

EVERY DARN TIME I set up a repeat loop and then change the tempo, using the tempo slider, MS loses track of the playback point in the score. So, I have to turn off the loop function, select the passage I want to practice, and click on the loop button again.

I don't know how to use gitHub, so I don't know if this is a known issue, and I don't know if anyone is working on a fix. Hope so! The problem has persisted through several MS versions, and has been reported and discussed on this forum before. Other MS users have confirmed it. I'm reporting it again, because it is so exasperating, and because if it is not on the list of needed fixes, it should be.

It's me, the OP again. Sorry. Just an amateur user. Increasing the tempo using the tempo slider appears to move the play point ahead in the repeat loop. Slowing the tempo with the slider appears to move the play point backwards. If it moves backward outside of the repeat loop, then the repeat loop doesn't work right.
