Articulations on TAB

• Nov 14, 2024 - 13:09

I am writing a guitar score with TAB, when I place Down/Up articulation they appear on both the staff and the TAB, and there is no way to configure it to appear on the TAB only or main Staff only.
Musescore should be able to place articulations separately.

I assume you're working with a linked TAB ? And if so, why only the articulations? There are plenty of other elements (ornaments, text, lines, hairpins, etc.) that don't necessarily duplicate each other, but rather lead to unfortunate redundancy, in my opinion. This was much discussed during the implementation of version 2.

But this has not led to anything really tangible, the addition of the "Show Fingering" option (disabled by default for TAB staves) being the exception that proves the rule.

Two solutions/workarounds:
1. If you're used to working with a lot of these kinds of elements, the best thing to do is to work with a Standard staff, and an unlinked TAB staff. Then, once you've finished entering your score, open the Selection Filter (View menu), and uncheck all the elements you don't want copied (including Articulations)

2. If, as in this case, only the articulations are involved, it's quicker to continue with a linked TAB, then right-click on an "Up" element /** Select / More / Tick "Same sub-type"** / and press the "V" key to make all "Up" elements invisible. And do it again for the "Down" elements
