Present Status of this product

I downloaded this product and tried some basic processes and started having difficulty with what I considered to be the most basic of operations. For example, I tried tying two notes together (+) and was unable to get it to happen for quite some time then when I did get it to happen, now it doesn't play it back properly.

I am just wondering what stage of development this product is at. Is it to be expected to have difficulties with those types of things ?

BTW ... there doesn't happen to be any video tutorials for this product are there ? That would really make things easier.

Also, you should know that I am trying to do most of this stuff using my mouse as opposed to pressing keys. Is that going to be a problem ?

There is no problem I know of with ties in MuseScore 0.9.5. Do you use this version? On which operating system?
The software is not yet 1.0 but you can do some great things with it. See the Made with MuseScore forum for some examples
Mouse input should work but if you are able to do I would recomment to use the keyboard because it's a lot faster once you are used to it.
Regarding MuseScore video tutorials, there are a couple on YouTube. You are welcome to do your own.

I am a high school band director, and I find MuseScore to be very functional. I used it to write all of my marching band arrangements this past Fall and about a dozen Brass Choir arrangements this Christmas. I think it prints very clean looking sheet music, which is important to me.

In learning to use it, I would suggest reading the manual, but hey, I didn't ether! :-) What I did was start to play with it, run into something I couldn't figure out how to do, then do a search through the site/manual to find answers. Admittedly there are quirks - this is still a work in progress - but 0.9.5 works very well for me. I came to MuseScore from Finale, and I assure you that Finale has quirks too, and it's a VERY expensive program! I find that I can work much faster and be more productive using MuseScore than I could in Finale, which is a testament to the developers and contributors. I do have to sometimes find work-arounds when things don't do what I think they should, but I can generally get done what I need to get done, if not always by the conventional method.

Don't be so quick to judge, and be patient. The program is very functional now and still evolving. I really look forward to 0.9.6 and some of the big improvements coming!
