Add View All and View None to Layout Palette
So the way it would work is, you have 75 instruments in the Layout palette, all with a bloodshot eye to the left of it. When you click View None, all of the eyes close. Then you can pick how many instruments you want to view. This is needed when you have to inspect an instrument or several instruments without the distraction of the other instruments. You can play just these instruments as they would do at a rehearsal, where let's say the conductor asks only the basses and altos to sing to check for issues. Then when you're done troubleshooting the score, you can wake up all those sleepy heads by clicking View All. Then everyone's ready for work on Monday with bloodshot eyes again.

Not a bad idea. Think about this:
If I have a large score open. And no parts are open, all eyes are open. Let's say I want to hear and work on the brass parts. I open the trumpet part from the Parts dialog. Notice that all the eyes close except for the trumpet. Then I open the eyes for the instruments I need. Only these instruments show and are heard in playback.
Not quite as fast, but close.

That's close enough indeed. I'll do it that way. Thanks!

UPDATE: Nope, not for me! I'll continue doing it my way until the buttons are implemented. Thanks anyway!

Interesting. What didn't work for you?

I like the clean look of the original score. The parts score has too many rests and numbers and facts and figures and it makes me dizzy. I need to lie down.
